Just a few hours after returning from a trip to Kingman, Arizona, I hauled the puppies out to the high desert again.
Location: Rosamond.
Start time: Crack of dawn.
Purpose: Let the dogs play around with birds for a little bit… test their drive, gauge their focus… assess their run.
Here’s a photo-journal of Miss Luna’s morning. Note: This was less than 48 hours after she was introduced to her very first bird (in Kingman, Arizona, on Friday night).
Am I pleased with her bird skills? VERY!!!
…
Shortly after arriving. She’s not a morning girl.
Luna on the left, brother Boulder on the right.
Luna’s first point of the morning.
First bird chase of the day. Dog on the left, bird on the right.
Another shot of Luna’s first chase. Lola on the left, bird on the right.
Coming back with the bird she retrieved.
…and walking away with the bird.
Actually, she was prancing around with the bird in her mouth.
Luna: 1. Bird: 0.
Deciding where to go next.
We purposefully let Miss Luna walk around with the bird in her mouth for a bit. But eventually, we had to get it back so we could start another round.
Looking for the second bird.
On point.
Craig flushing the bird. Luna about to break her point.
…and… off she goes!
One happy girl.
