Mika’s one for doing things “her” way. On Saturday afternoon, she blessed us with six gorgeous puppies… about 3 days ahead of schedule. Everyone’s healthy and robust. Welcome, kids!!!
Here’s how it went down:
Mika: Lemme out, I need to potty.
Me: Sure thing.
[Elapsed time: 90 seconds.]
…and then I see Mika squatting on the patio, about to have a giant poo…. uppy???!!??!?!?!!!!?????
Me: Honey, I need a towel! First puppy arriving in 3… 2…
DAY 0: A Photographic summary of the day’s happenings…
First puppy, Blue collar boy, born on the patio.
Second puppy, Green collar boy, born in the crate while the husband puts the whelping box in the kitchen together assoonaspossible. [See also: pups were three days early and we weren’t prepared.]
Third puppy, Yellow collar boy.
Three boys.
Getting my box of ribbons ready for the kiddos. This is box 1 of 3… we have a LOT of ribbons. !!!
Puppy # 4 is another boy. He will get an Orange collar.
Mika’s nails are RIDICULOUSLY long, and I’m a nail snob, so I actually wonder if I can get a manicure squeezed in… between puppies.
Blue collar boy and Orange collar boy.
Treating myself to a beer, since so far, it’s been easy peasy.
(Oops, Puppy # 5 arrived and I don’t have a photo.) But here’s Puppy # 6, later known as Purple collar girl!
Already sneaking under the pig rail. #safetyfirst
Greetings from Kim!
Yellow collar boy.
Blue collar boy. Small, but mighty.
…and creative in his lodging arrangements.
The seventh puppy is a Red Stripe.
First family photo.

DAY 1: Since it’s not 1:38 pm yet, let’s say it’s still day one. We’ll post photos DAILY on Facebook until they’re 8 weeks old.
The little upside one down is the blue collar boy. Anne’s current (for no intelligent reason whatsoever) favorite.
Who is mine?! That would be the little purple collar girl. – Kim
P.S. Looks like the x-ray was accurate.
