“We show to breed, not breed to show.”
Sporting events, such as dog shows, hunt tests, field trials, ratings tests, etc. test a particular dog’s strength in each venue and are important to the Barrett Weimaraners breeding program. Dog show wins acknowledge a dog’s physical adherence to the breed standard, and field trials, hunt tests and ratings tests confirm a dog’s basic working ability.
In other words, Barrett dogs are shown to demonstrate they are conformationally correct and structurally sound. For the average person, that means they “pretty,” and they’re a good representation of what the Weimaraner breed is supposed to look like.
Many become show Champions. Of those, 7 have continued to earn the Grand Champion title. And of those, even fewer earn the Grand Champion Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum titles. To date, Barrett bred and/or owned dogs have earned a total of 21 Show Championships:

July 2, 2017 – Blaise Pascal earns TWO MAJORS at the Southland Weimaraner Club’s Specialty in Ventura, CA. He also earned BOS in Puppy Sweepstakes, and also a couple of Best Puppy rosettes.

December 2, 2016 – Hello from Ardmore, Oklahoma!!! Ch Barrett n’ Star’s Flying Spectacle NSD, “BUG,” just earned a nice Select Bitch ribbon at the WCA Winter Specialty. !!!!!!!!!!!! This makes up for the fact that brother BoulderMan was entered here but registered absent. (Oops, he missed the bus to Oklahoma and is not here this week.) Congratulations to Bug’s primary mamma, Erin!!! Next up, running in the National Futurity later this week. A big thanks in advance to Pappa Terry Chandler for training and running her. Wahoo!!!

July 1, 2016 – BOULDER WINS BEST DOG IN MATURITY AT THE 2016 WCA WESTERN FUTURITY/MATURITY!!!! Also, 1st Place Intermediate Futurity Bitch goes to Ellie, 2nd Place Intermediate Futurity goes to littermate sister Zanie, 4th Place Intermediate Futurity Bitch goes to littermate Bug and 4th Place Intermediate Futurity Dog goes to littermate Stark. !!!! To have four of the Torque x Friday kids PLACE in the Futurity for my first independently-bred litter is simply amazing. Well done, kids.
June 26, 2016 – What a day. !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Introducing CH Barrett n’ Star’s Flying Spectacle NSD. “Bug” went WB, BOW and BEST OF BREED today for her Third Major to finish under Judge David Kittredge at the SoCal Sporting Dog Fanciers Assoc show in Long Beach. Bug is also Winner of the 2016 WCA Western Field Futurity. To say that Erin and I are excited for her future would be an understatement. Thank you Louise, Deborah, Marva,Angela, and the rest of #teamscott for being there today to cheer for us! And thank you Robert for promoting your bucket bitch to assistant status so I could be on the end of her lead today. Next up, show Futurity next Friday and then baby Bug goes back toTerry!!!

June 12, 2016 – We had a great time at Woofstock! A total of 3 BOBs and one BOS for Boulder, 1 BOS and 2 Selects plus 2 BOBOH for Ellie, and a very nice 3-point Major for Gracie, which also makes her a NEW CHAMPION!!!
May 31, 2016 – The Mission Circuit was a big success for the Barrett kids. In total, Two BOS ribbons for Zanie, one Select ribbon for Boulder, one BOS ribbon and two Select ribbons for Ellie, WB for a 3-point Major for Gracie on Sunday and WB for 2 more points for Gracie on Monday.
May 22nd, 2016 – After a brief hiatus from the show ring, the Barrett kids are back! On Sunday at the SF Bay Club Weimaraner Specialty, Ellie (2014 Torque x Friday) goes WB to earn a 4-point Major. The following day at the Coyote Hills Kennel Club, littermate sister Bug goes WB/BOW to earn a 3-point Major. On Sunday, Ellie picks up another 3-point Major to finish as a NEW CHAMPION, with a total of four Majors (5, 4, 4, 3), exclusively out of the BBE class. Thank you all for a great weekend! Meanwhile, back at the Mt. Palomar KC in Southern CA, Rob and Boulder earned two BOBs.

July 31, 2015 – Introducing: Ch Barrett’s Star Zirkusdirector. “Jaeger” was Froggie out of the 2014 Torque x Friday litter. At 6 months 10 days old, Jaeger picked up his first Major by going BOS over Specials from the 6-9 month puppy class. THREE MAJORS LATER, we’re all set with the CH. First kid to finish out of the Circus litter. Today, Jaeger leaves the Barrett nest to join his Pappa Alex on 10 fenced acres in Tennessee. (We babysat him all summer while Alex scouted for dog friendly acreage at his new digs.) Thank you Louise for showing this boy.
July 17, 2015 – A FABULOUS day at the WCA Western Futurity and the Willamette Weimaraner Club’s Show Specialty! In the Futurity, Boulder First Place in Senior Dog and Gracie Second Place in Junior Bitch!!!! At the Speciality Shows, Gracie picked up a 1st place ribbon in the 9-12 puppy class. At a huge show such as this, we’ll take it! (Stark was 2nd out of 2 in his class.) In the Sweepstakes, Jaeger was 1st in the 9-12 dog class and Stark was 2nd (out of 3 dogs). Sister Bug was 2nd out of 2 in the 9-12 puppy bitch class. There’s a little bit of money in those envelopes… Probably enough to buy tomorrow morning’s coffee. Woo!!! Big congratulations to all the winners and big THANK YOU to the WCA and the Willamette Weimaraner Club for putting this together. Tomorrow, we continue the party at 8:00 am!!! But first, dinner with the crew and some shut-eye at the dumpy motel across the river.

July 10, 2015 – Another good day with#teamscott! BoMan and Robert made it to Big Dog Groups, and Bug and I made it to Puppy Dog Groups. Bummed to miss seeing Bo in his ring this afternoon because Bug and I were in ours. The silver lining; Bug picked up a Puppy Sporting Group 4! Thank you D Lance and Bryan for helping to wrangle FIVE Weims this morning. Now, potty, feed, and BBQ. 
July 8, 2015 – “Dear friends: Mamma dumped me off with Uncle Robert for a few days last week. Said something about how she had seven other dogs, including rescues, to take care. Pfft. Then Robert took me to the dog shows. And TWICE over the weekend, the judges handed me these pretty purple and yellow ribbons. Mamma said sum’n about how in the last two months, I’ve picked up FIVE of these ribbons, FOUR of them for Majors, and ALL of them over Specials. Add the Select ribbons to the pile, and she says people can call me a “Grand Champion” or something. Tonight, I will crawl into bed with my mamma and my pappa. And I will stretch my booty all over them. And they will have to live with that. Because I’m a GRAND Mr. BoMan.”

March 18, 2012 – About six hours before his photo was taken, I was hit with violent food poisoning. And, the weather had been MISERABLE. We can now cross off showing dog in a rain storm off my bucket list. And, Friday is still not photogenic. Goofy girl… But we earned another Winners Bitch ribbon today!!!
February 25, 2012 – Winners Bitch ribbon today for Miss Friday!!! And then we ran the dogs at the dog beach in Del Mar. And then we went back to the B&B and gave them a bath. Then we left them in the room to go into town for breakfast. And then we started breakfast… and then we picked up a call on the cell phone indicating that the window to our room was broken, and our dogs were running around the parking lot naked (we had taken their collars off).
