Hi guys! Here’s an overview on puppy development during week six as well as recap in photos (below):
Wednesday, November 12th:
A shot of puppies enjoying their miniature crate.
In the spirit of “the puppies need to get out and get socialized,” I took Elliephant with me down to Laguna Beach to pick up my friend Austin (we had reservations at Republique in LA!).
Before getting to Austin’s house, we made a quick detour to Jerry’s to say hello. This is Jerry hanging out with Elliephant while Seren snoozed.
Elliephant likes Jerry.
Seren being just a tad bit jealous.
Love for the baby.
A quick shot of me with Elliephant before we hopped back in the car.
Austin holding Ellie.
This puppy sleeps like the dead.
Thursday, November 13th:
Every year, the group of “college girlfriends” get together for one long weekend in a rental house. No spouses, no children. This year, our destination was Palm Springs, and the girls encouraged me to bring the puppies!
Unfortunately, I didn’t feel comfortable taking the whole litter (that’s a lot of work!), but I did finagle three of them for the trip: BumbleBee, Elliephant, and TeddyBear. Everyone made the road trip with zero potty issues.
Elliephant Cuddles with Carla, the librarian.
Teddy cuddles with Megan, the school psychologist.
And that means BumbleBee gets to snuggle with me!
Ted had a big day.
All three babies, back in their “crib” for the night.
The whelping box set up in the family room so we could keep an eye on them while drinking champagne and watching girly movies.
Friday, November 14th:
A view of the backyard from the house.
Elliephant.
BumbleBee took off with Carla’s slippers.
A natural retriever?!
Floor time with Ted.
The Ted man dances.
Ellie getting caught in one of the vines.
Patio furniture… or an obstacle course?!
Breakfast.
Herbs from my friend, Mitchell! These were later used to make roast chicken with butter and herbs (stuffed under the skin for extra flavor) and a Dijon cream sauce. The sage leaves were fried in butter and then used as a topping over smashed red potatoes.
The crib.
Sorry, had to share what a market run with a bunch of girls looks like.
Happiness.
Nice views, too.
BumbleBee, the supermodel.
Megan in the pool.
Carla on the kindle.
Ted gets curious.
By now we’re thinking it might be a fun idea to get Ted in the water.
Almost in!
Still thinking about it. And whining about it.
BumbleBee heard Teddy whining, dashed across the yard, and landed in the pool. Once in, she decided this wasn’t so bad, and elected to hang out for a little bit.
Meanwhile, Ted kept looking for an exit.
Almost out, Ted! Not pictured: Elliephant going for a real dip and actually swimming.
Post-swim.
Snuggles with Megan.
Erin and Jodi get their turn to hang out with the puppies!
Card game staple: Wine.
Puppies on the table are also entirely appropriate.
…as are puppies under the table.
The most amazing cheesecake for dessert. Pardon the glop; we were too impatient to let it set entirely before digging in.
Saturday and Sunday, November 15th and 16th:
Chillaxin while some girls work on a jigsaw puzzle.
Spending “observation time” with puppies lead to a bunch of cool things. On this morning, I discovered that Elliephant had a pair of Harrasburg horns. Read this article to see what they are. http://justweimaraners.com/smart-bumps-harrasburg-horns-and-other-weimaraner-peculiarities/
And BumbleBee has a lot of long hairs.
Rosanna saying goodbye to the pups.
Monday, November 17th:
One of my goals for this week is to get all the puppies out of the house, away from their littermates. Not only is it really good socialization, but it’s also really good for them to be away from their littermates. This afternoon, it was Monkey’s turn to accompany me to Lowe’s for some errands. Lowe’s, by the way, is DOG FRIENDLY!!!
Monkey in the car. What a handsome man.
I left him at the end of one aisle while I went to the other end, just to see what he would do. He watched me go off, then laid down and went to sleep. Independent little man!!!
I also left him in the car while I stopped into a grocery store for one quick item. When I arrived back at the car and peeked through the window, this is what I saw.
Late at night, Friday snuck in for a quick feeding.
Tuesday, November 18th:
Oops, the Lamb of God no longer has a head.
LadyBug with cream cheese on her nose.
On Tuesday, the sire’s owner, Louise Brady, came over to take a first real look at the puppies. We set-up all the puppies the same way so we could get a good view of their structure. Overall, we’re VERY VERY, LIKE OMG PLEASED at how this litter is turning out.
Here are the girls on Day 41 (sorry, you’ll have to wait a little bit longer to see the boys):
BumbleBee.
Elliephant.
LadyBug.
