How to Find a Reputable Breeder

Hello, potential Weimaraner puppy owner!

I get a lot of feedback from folks saying, “hi, I’m  looking for a new Weimaraner puppy… Where do I start? How do I know if the breeder I’m talking to is reputable?”

If you’re looking to get a happy, healthy, well-adjust pup, I hope I can help.

Please click here to view the article, which as of December 15, 2014, has been picked up by the kinds folks at JustWeimaraners!

Additionally, here is a resource called “Weimaranaer Puppy Buying Guide.”

    Hi Kim,
Thank you so much for taking the time to give so many examples and what to look for when purchasing a puppy! I wish I had these examples when I was looking for a Weimaraner 6 years ago. Thankfully, we chose a puppy based on a lot of the things you recommended. My family absolutely love our dog who is extremely sweet and obedient and smart and we love that she is with us all the time. We also live in the Los Angeles area, Santa Clarita and if we ever plan to get another puppy I would love to send you an application! Currently, we all want another Weim but since we are renting we are under restrictions of how many dogs we can have in our home. Thanks again for sharing your beautiful pictures and story!

We have lost our thirteen year old girl about a month ago. Unlike having a pet, she was our precious companion to both of us. My husband a disable vet, and Malia were very attached. We are planning on having a new member added to our famiy, this time a Blue Weimaraner, we have no ideal where to start. You see my husband brought her home from Hawaii. We took the time to look for the breeder, but it was unsuccessful. We live in California. So we are at the beginning of our search.

Our boy was named Rowdy and he named himself. He was our life and my husband’s best friend. On November 20, 2016 at the age of 11yrs, he passed quite suddenly from our lives leaving a huge hole. Once you’ve had the breed you are spoiled for any other. No other dog seems to come close. We have had Weims for over 25 years now and have loved them all. We will get another because life without them is no life. Ours love sleeping with us, sharing everything we do, and just being part of the family. We still have Rowdy’s mother who is now 15 years old, Lady, and she has had a hard time with his loss. As we have…. I can’t say enough about how loving these dogs are. Owners know.

Do you know of any breeders in Washington/Oregon/Idaho area? Seems most of the ones I come across are not planning any upcoming litters. Thanks!

We lost our Cinnamon Girl over a month ago and not a day goes by that I don’t think about her. We got her from a breeder in TX at 10 weeks old, had her until she was 12. She was definitely my girl, slept on my side of the bed 99% of her time with us. It was very hard to let her go but she was sick. We now have an almost thirteen week old girl we named Remy which is short for Remington Bleu that we got from a breeder in Ohio. She is mischievous, all puppy with a feisty personality but will bloom into a beautiful girl (she is a blue)! We also have Buddy who is going on thirteen and a very big boy, got him free at six months and he is a lover. It’s true once you own a Weimaraner you don’t want another breed. Best breed ever!

Lost our Weim Lilli a month ago, suddenly at 13. We miss her, as do our 3 cats, who she let boss her around. Am looking for a Migcigan Breeder so we might add back a little of the joy Lilli provided for so many years.

    Hi Kim,
Thank you for all the time and knowledge you have invested here. It’s tremendously helpful! Do you recommend to start by filling out apps for several breeders or choosing one and see if they can refer me to a breeder? We live in Southern California in the city of Eastvale /Corona.

    Hello Kim

Thank You very much for your time and efforts on all the information you have shared. Very helpful to someone like who is going to be first time owner. I leave in Alabama. Is there any breeder you would recommend. I am happy to drive an extra mile if it means a better and a healthy pup. Will appreciate your response.

    Thanks
