Prim | Barrett’s Evening Primrose – Age 21 months
DOB: April 8, 2019
Owner: Barrett Weimaraners
Career. Prim (2019 Echo x Gracie) was bred to be a field trial powerhouse. As a youngster, Prim lived with Stacy and Gene in Phoenix and was given a proper start with basic training and socialization. As a juvenile dog, Prim went on to stay with Terry Chandler of Rugerheim Kennels and participated in the 2020 Field Trial Summer Camp program. It was there that she made big strides in her training, and made the cut for the Autumn season. By November, Prim was dubbed a hunting fool, with excellent drive, great nose, and enthusiasm galore… earning herself both a Second Place Ribbon and a Third Place Ribbon at both regional and national level Field Trial events. Next up: Health testing and raising a litter of puppies before she goes back to Rugerheim Kennels for additional training and higher level competition.
At Home. Prim is exuberant, friendly, and affectionate. Not the alpha in the house, Prim gets along with all the other dogs. She’s also a GREAT big sister to little puppies, always being careful to be really gentle with them. Typical of most Weimaraners, she’s also athletic, sneaky, stubborn, and curious. Rotisserie chickens left on the counter will disappear. Patio sliders will have nose art printed about six feet high. After a full day of hiking or running, Prim’s favorite place to be is snuggled up next to her people on the sofa, watching football or basketball (depends on the season).
Barrett Breeding Objectives. Weimaraners as a breed are moderately sized hunting dogs and should be preserved as such. One of our short-term (within 10 years) goals is to produce and sustain a bloodline of Weimaraners who are fierce dogs with extreme athleticism and hunting endurance. In the longer-term (10-20 years) we hope to produce the same hard-hunting Weimaraners who are also capable of higher level conformation/dog shows [see also: Dual Champion Weimaraner]. Prim is the product of a high caliber breeding that we hope will keep this line going. Future puppies who do not meet aptitude testing objectives for endurance hunting will be carefully placed in active companion homes. Puppies out of Prim are unlikely to be well suitable for first-time Weimaraner owners or otherwise companion households. Please contact us directly if you have any specific questions about Prim and her future litter. There are also other litters planned for this year that might be better suited for companion families.
