First show participation in 15 months!!! The members of The Barrett Collective were blessed to be among friends at the 2021 SVWC Specialty Show weekend in Carmichael, CA. Thank you to Debra and Esteri, club members and their families for putting on a terrific event, and with very little lead time!!! 🤩
Holly finished TJ out of the BBE class. Gail’s DC Kirby was Best Veteran. Kristina showed Patrice’s Tatum to a BOS in Puppy Sweepstakes, and TWO Reserve Winners Dog ribbons. Littermate sister Zara also picked up a Reserve Winners Bitch ribbon. Thomas and Jason’s Stevie Nicks earned a Select Bitch ribbon her first time out as a Special. Anne’s Rhea out of the 2020 Boulder x Stella Litter made it out of the BBE class, twice. Erin’s little monster (and Paulina’s favorite Barrett dog) Sierra (2019 Bowie x Gracie) went Winners Bitch/Best of Winners. Walt and Obi (2019 Swede x LadyBug) took home BOS and Select Dog ribbons. And last but not least, Brian and Gena’s Bogie snuck into the ribbons at every show, earning three Select Dog ribbons and a BOS ribbon. Ending the weekend with 20 GCH points, he’s at the top of the leader board. 🎉🥰😁🍾👏🏼🎈🥳❤️

Friday
After departing home in the morning, our first destination was Bakersfield, where we picked up Tatum. From there, we stopped in at Kim Urbani’s place in Chowchilla to potty dogs. It was like having our own little private dog park! We still had Green Boy from Ruby’s litter us so he also had a mini-reunion with his littermate sister Pink Girl.
Mark Urbani made some homemade pizza (with homemade dough)!!!
After departing Chowchilla, #teambarrett checked into a dog-friendly AirBNB in Carmichael and settled in for the night. We’ve found that renting a dog-friendly property for a few days is waaaaaay better than getting a hotel and having to potty dogs on leash all weekend.

Saturday
Because we’re the living on the edge types, the first morning of a dog show weekend typically includes a CRASH COURSE on dog handling. LOL. Of course, everyone did great on their practice sessions, so we went into the day thinking our chances were pretty decent.

Having been out of practice, we woke up on Sunday morning EXHAUSTED. Fortunately, the dogs didn’t skip a beat and continued to make us proud!

And because I couldn’t resist, I picked up a CalWEAR dog named Sammi on my home from Sacramento. Sammi rode in the front seat all the way home because all the other crates were occupied.
Edited to add: Sammi was a great house-guest for a few days. And he has since been ADOPTED!!!!!!!!
