In the California desert, BAJA (Rossi x Mika) went to the German Wirehaired Pointer of SoCal Field Trial and earned himself a nice Fourth Place ribbon in the Amateur Gun Dog (retrieving) stake. !!!!!!!! Nearby, Mango, Jynni, and Maverick all went out training with their people. 🏅
On the California coast, OBI-WAN (Swede x LadyBug) went to the Silver Bay Kennel Club shows and earned himself the Winners Dog ribbon. STERLING (Blaise Pascal x Reese) was Winners Bitch/Best of Winners at the same show to become a new SHOW CHAMPION!!!!!!! 🏆
Out in Texas, SWITCH (Otto x Beanie) went to the San Antonio Weimaraner Club Field Trial and made his debut in the Open Puppy stake. It was a 💩💩💩💩time, but he enjoyed himself. 😆
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!!!!! And – One million thank you to the breeders, owners, trainers, and handlers of these dogs for allowing them to represent the Weimaraner breed so well this weekend. ❤️

Thank you GWPC of SoCal for NOT cancelling your field trial, and SHOUT-OUT to everyone on the grounds and also remotely who worked tirelessly at the eleventh hour to pull it off. 😊
It’s always an incredible scene. Stylish dogs. Nice runs. Enthusiastic handlers… who double as scouts for braces they don’t have dogs in… who triple as bird planters the same afternoon… quadruple as chefs in the evening, and then quintuple (is that even a word?) as judges the following day.
Folks are ponying two horses at the same time, pointing out dogs for their bracemates, gunning when they’re not handling, planting when they’re not cooking… husbands and wives team up together to run dogs and judge stakes… people who don’t even have any dogs entered are there for the whole three days, just to help out… the list goes on.
And there were new people!!!!
If anyone out there is ever curious about a field trial, give me a call and I’ll meet you at one. There are plenty of horses available for riding, and even more talented dogs available for viewing. We will be at the San Joaquin GSP Field Trial in McKittrick in two weeks.
